More ink :)
Sep. 22nd, 2007 03:53 pmStill playing around with that ink... Does anybody know of any how-to books on ink drawing, or tutorials on the internet? I'm sort of fumbling around in the dark, and though that is enjoyable, because the results are rather surprising, it would be nice to have some guidance! :)
Anyway -
I like this because I discovered how to get different shades of ink by diluting it in water (You see the kind of basic help I need? :D)
I worked on the same idea as above, only I actually gave him a neck this time! ;) I like the way he is laughing at me, raising his eyebrow! His body, I'm less satisfied with, except as another experiment..
This was a more controlled experiment - and I'm pretty pleased with the results.
And finally a flying menace:

BTW, I'll be updating RotN gallery in the second part of October, right after I'll be back home (I'm leaving to another city for two weeks). Just informing you, for I asked you about participation so long time ago.

Date: 2007-09-25 09:57 am (UTC)Epilogue is very good place to learn and a lot people does traditional art there.
Check out Paperflower's hand made books if they're not under flock - she did some great book binding, I especially like her art book with illustrations inspired by JRRT's works.

Date: 2007-09-25 10:34 am (UTC)Yes I think epilogue will probably push me a bit more than drawspace.. I practically have to stand on people to make them critique and not just say that it is a pretty drawing.
I saw the books she made. Beautiful work!

Date: 2007-09-25 12:14 pm (UTC)Sometimes people at Epilogue don't crit, either, but usually if they do the critique is worth reading. Sometimes it's even too much and can sound too harsh, though intentions are never evil, it's our emotions towards artwork making such impression. I had crit on my never done Nerdanel in wrong moment and time, I should have not post it then. But it's already gone, now I'm in mood open for words again :) But, apart WIP and Sketchbook forums people there will definitely give you advice on techniques and supplies when you ask them. Also on every sphere where art is involved (and there are also general topics, which I try to avoid, I talk too much anyway instead of painting ;) ).
Right now I stick to Epi, PixelBrush and CGTalk where I got sometimes different advices, aso tehcnique and anatomy wise.
BTW, just today someone at CGTalk linked me that great page - animated face build and expressions:
