Another figure study - this time done in inkwashes. Underneath the cut is a woman with a naked torso - I think she is pretty, but if you do not like nakedness, venture no further. ;)

I like the lightness of the ink - and the subtle shades it can create. Plus you have the full tonal value in one stroke if you like! What's not to appreciate.

Oh, this is gorgeous. Odd as it may sound in light of the full frontal nudity, I cannot stop myself from gazing at her eyes. I love how she is trapped in a moment, and ambiguity surrounds the exact nature of what has captured her attention.

The colors are stunning, and you are quite correct that the shading is subtle yet the result is nothing short of powerful.

Thank you for posting your studies!

ps I have an idea for writing a few Sirius Black oneshots and collaborating with an artist to add illustrations. From your POV, would this be a creative collaboration a visual artist may enjoy, or absolutely not? I know that illustrations inspire me, and if I wrote scenes half as well as many draw them, well, I'd be quite lucky. :D

Thank you so much. I am happy there is more to her to capture here interest than the nudity. :) She does seem trapped in a moment, and I too would like to know what has her interest. (but she won't tell me - secretive little nymph!) I'm so pleased you think the shading works - it was the purpose of this study to see how the shading could be done with ink.

PS - such a collaboration could be interesting and very challenging, but you need to consider if the artist you want to ask is doing art for her own enjoyment, or is making a living out of it. For myself I would be flattered if someone asked me, but others might be offended... I love when art compliments words and vice versa, it lifts the whole thing up to a higher level. :) And you do very well with words - I saw your fic on redandthewolf, and I liked it very much. Just didn't have time to review yet... *blush*

It's lovely, a wood nymph indeed. I like the way the ivy seems to be resting lightly on her, yet is clearly part of her. And the shading makes her look like a creature of light and nature.

Oh thank you - I'm so pleased with how you view her. Her appearance wasn't so much a conscient effort on my part as a happy experiment, but the tecnique certainly served the expression well. She almost seems transparent and yet is still there.
Thank you again - I'm happy you like her.

*is floored once again*

This is gorgeous. Like [livejournal.com profile] duck_or_rabbit, I am taken by her eyes ... but also her mouth, her shoulders, and the slight twist of her torso. And I'd kill to have a rack like that, lol. ;) I also like the "unfinished" quality of the edges of her body and hair, which leave her, and the scene, even more ethereal. Beautiful.

Thank you so much. I had a wonderful reference to work from, but I'm very pleased with how it worked out. This is pretty much the first time I have tried to capture a likeness in ink, and I get only one chance. I like the unfinished look of it too and you are right that it does give her the appearance of blending with her surroundings.

And I'd kill to have a rack like that
The envy that I hold for the model, I used here, exists on soooo many levels. ;)

Oh wow, she's awesome. I love the expression on her face, and her body is exquisite, too.

You should draw some nude R/T. ;)

Thank you - I'm so happy you like her. I was very pleased to see how the ink would work to capture such a moment in time.

You should draw some nude R/T. ;)
I most likely will, don't worry. I was toying around with an idea for the winter wonderland challenge, but it only fit with the prompts if imagination was stretched beyond belief. ;) But maybe I should break the idea out again...
