Yes - because I need another fandom like I need a hole in the head! ;) Oh well, I'll take inspiration in any form.

The bite. Carlisle Cullen shortly after having been bitten.
I had completely different plans for this image, so I may revisit it to try out my other ideas.. We'll see. First of all I want to get a start on that Tolkien graphic novel I have been practising for for some time now. ;)

Date: 2008-04-20 07:08 pm (UTC)The artwork is awesome - I will view and appreciate, since it isn't an area in which I have any talent :D

Date: 2008-04-20 10:00 pm (UTC)How are you, anyway? I recently discovered your drawing entitled 'Crossing the Helcaraxe', and I think it's one of my favourites of yours.

Date: 2008-04-21 04:17 am (UTC)Hehe, there really isn't enough time for all the obsessions I'm capable of! ;)And I'm good, thank you for asking. I seem to have a lot of energy to do things I have been putting off for too long, so that's really nice. How about you?
And thank you also for mentioning Helcaraxe.:D I really love that drawing too. Where did you find it? Here?

Date: 2008-04-21 09:35 am (UTC)Due to not being able to sleep, I was exploring LJ like never before, and somehow I've never looked at your DeviantArt page until now. So there was a decided upside to it all! Hence my discovery of Helcaraxe, which is such a powerful image. Really made me think of battling against the ice and biting winds... :)

Date: 2008-04-21 10:15 am (UTC)I'm happy you came across my dA page. :) Helcaraxë is an image I really enjoy and which I'm not completely sure how I made. When I look back on it, it seems like it was a bit beyond me at that time, which is probably also a reason that I love it so well. :D

Date: 2008-04-23 08:30 am (UTC)Things are better, thank you, in that food and I seem to be co-existing peacefully again. We do have spring here and yesterday was glorious. I actually got to sit in the garden and read for half an hour, without freezing to death. The cat would definitely agree with you about the affect it has, she's bouncing around and pretending she's a kitten again. (I do hope you're not swinging off the bottom of the curtains with your claws though;))
Helcaraxe is an incredibly powerful image; I was quite stunned when I saw it. I shall have to have these late night exploratory sessions again some time, I had lots of fun over at the Silmarillion site too. ;)

Date: 2008-04-23 08:57 am (UTC)Aw cute kitten! Animals are so much fun when it is spring. Even my parents old cat has bestirred himself to venture out and remark his territory. :) The curtain business sounds like fun though - I may try it when I'm hit by my next burst of excess energy. ;)
Oh I love it when I have time to just follow link after link and suddenly happen upon something new and interesting! And I'm glad you are enjoying the Silmarillion site. Are you reading the stories? And did you see this: Seven in '07 Lots and lots of artwork and story-excerpts. :D *tempts you*

Date: 2008-04-23 11:03 am (UTC)Briefly - or as brief as I can be - back in 1996, I picked up a rare strain of gastroenteritus, courtesy of a co-worker, who'd been holidaying in very far off parts and brought it back with her. That was in June, and by October I'd lost nearly two stone, and was in hospital as I couldn't keep anything down and my immune system had packed up.
Back then, they didn't know nearly as much about food intolerances as they do now, nor did they realise it was gastroenteritus as it was such a rare form. They thought it was bowel cancer, colitis, Crohns, you name it... Anyway they were understandably desperate to get some weight back on me again so pumped me full of sugary supplements and dairy products, which was very ironic as the actual problem was that I had become completely intolerant (I can't really call it an allergy as it's improved so much over the years, but it was as close as you can get) to various foods. Especially those.
It took me two very miserable years to sort out what was going on, find help, and find a diet to live on. At one time, I had a list of things I just couldn't touch as long as your arm, including any wheat and dairy. But I can tolerate small amounts of wheat now and then, and sometimes get away with some dairy, and some chocolate. :) So life is much, much better; I just have to be very careful and, unfortunately, be the dinner guest from hell!
I can usually tell when I'm close to having a reaction, and try and take something straight away, but obviously I completely blew that last Friday because I am stupid.
On a far nicer subject, I haven't read any stories yet but it's probably only a matter of time, lol. I may use them as tempting carrots for my own writing, once I've got the next few days over when I am planning to lock myself in a room minus phone, LJ, interruptions and anything else that can stop me finishing some of these dratted fics.
Ooh, that site - thank you!:D I saw your Nerdanel straight away, of course, but the drawing of Celebrimbor is almost exactly as I imagine Sirius to look! LOL. Talk about mixing fandoms, but I'm sure I shall enjoy myself there.
Look forward to your next LJ post when you're stuck up the top of the curtains... ;)

Date: 2008-04-23 11:28 am (UTC)Hehe, if you plan to use the SWG-stories as a carrot let me heartily recommend the stories by Dawn Felagund. She is actually also the owner of the site, and it was her writing that initially got me embroiled in the Silmarillion fandom. And here, to ruin all your plans of a constructive afternoon, is a link to the gallery of my favourite Tolkien artist:
Kasiopea. Feel free to mix fandoms here also. ;) (And I quite agree that that Celebrimbor is very Sirius-like ;))

Date: 2008-04-23 10:07 pm (UTC)Well a lot of 'experts' have contradicted each other over this so I'm not sure they know! In normal cases, if there's such a thing, if you cut the offending food out for nine months and introduce it back in tiny amounts, rather like a baby, you can learn to eat it again in small quantities. I took about five years before there was any improvement at all and I could do this, but then there's been a lot more in the last two or three years.
I don't want to jinx it by saying any more, just ... fingers crossed it continues. ;)
Ooh, you're such a temptress with these sites! LOL. I had a quick look at the gallery just now and wow - I'll definitely be back for a longer look. And I've made a note of that writer's name for my future carrots so many thanks.:D

By the way, have you finished Brief Lives?
I came back to ask what Tori are you listening to?? "Juarez" on To Venus and Back is Twilighty to me.
:D

Date: 2008-04-21 04:24 am (UTC)I still haven't gotten my mitts on Brief lives... Typical!! I'll be sending them book finding thoughts all day..
And I was just listening to Tori's Under the pink on my ipod without any sort of discrimination. ;) It is the only album of hers I have, but I'm rediscovering her, and I might go out and find some more.

Date: 2008-04-21 05:39 pm (UTC)Seriously, this is fantastic. I love the PAIN of the piece. There's a raw energy in it that you have absolutely captured, no question about it. Love the hand cradling his own head, the unseeing eyes, the other fingers clawing at his wound, his face in a snarl of anguish, and the hint of red amidst the sepia of the rest of the shading. *dies* This is stunning. Some of your best work, in my humble opinion.
BTW, two of your three books have arrived. :) They are books 2 and 3, which I can go ahead and send, or we can wait for book 1 and I can mail all 3 at the same time. Your choice! :D

Date: 2008-04-21 05:52 pm (UTC)Oh that was fast with the books! *vacillates* Let's wait... It will be cheaper to send it all at once. (And I haven't moved closer to the top of the list for the library, so this is really good news!)*hugs*
