hrymfaxe: (Sirius home)
[personal profile] hrymfaxe
I suspect most of you on the flist have already seen these paintings and drawings from the [livejournal.com profile] bigbangblackout Sirius party, but I thought it would be nice to have them archived here on my own lj too. Many thanks to the BBB mods for all their hard work on getting so many Sirius stories and art! You can find them all linked on the community lj page. :D

Formalities: There are a lot of images under the cut, download time may be long. The highest rating is PG13. Please click pictures to enlarge. :D

I did art for two different stories:

Home by Duck_or_Rabbit!

Sirius twisted in his duvet, sat up, and glared at James through a view of black strands glowing yellow at the edges from the sun falling across his face through the window curtains. “I was comfortably bedded until you came in and shouted your ponciness from the threshold.”

His imagination bucked into life and everything that felt wrong was fixed. His hand that clawed tightly around the iron chair arm loosened and by his third drag, anxiety curdled and faced its death, drowning in hash waves. The exhalation was designed to signal to that relief was in him.

As Sirius rolled down the field, he turned at the waist and came directly upon the Quaffle slicing along his path—a pass from James—and first drawing back his arm, he then launched it across the pitch clean and cuttingly. And it was a killer shot. Typical of James and Sirius' symbiotic play, the Quaffle spun with massive momentum through the upper corner of the keep for the first goal of the match.

But Sirius didn’t care. He couldn’t give a toss what anyone except himself was feeling underneath of a mound of kicking and punching players, at the bottom of which was James Potter who doubtless never wanted to see him and his pitiless temper again.

“Bollocks, will you stop!” Sirius reached out and caught his arm. Regulus blinked and swallowed a flustered little gulp, then shook his head to answer an unasked question.

Regulus looked rather rattled by his outburst, then blushed, and Sirius felt it confirmed in the worst kind of way that he appeared not interested enough to have gone to Regulus with this on his own.

“He's my brother, and sometimes I think he wished I'd just disappear. And it would be like him to try and make himself disappear instead," Sirius whispered. "He's such an idiot."

It was a moment before Sirius noticed that James had wrapped his arm around his back. It made him feel small, and he hunched his shoulders.

The Edge of Sanity by Chocolattejedi!

Another angry shout made Regulus whimper and snuggle deeper into Sirius's side. Sirius wrapped his arm tightly around his baby brother and sighed quietly. Even if he had been willing to risk the wrath of his parents, Sirius couldn't expose Regulus to that. He was only four - far too young to suffer through their father's mood swings or their mother's punishments.

Sirius considered it for a moment before nodding. "Alright, come on in. Sit, if you'd like." Regulus darted into the room, his eyes taking in everything as Sirius closed and locked the door. Gingerly he sat on the edge of one of the armchairs and started wringing his hands, avoiding making eye contact with Sirius. "So, now that we're in private, Reg, why should I help you?"

Sirius smiled widely, an action which seemed to unnerve the future Minister even more, "Well that's what people say. I personally believe that Bellatrix is a demon, placed in my family for the purpose of evil."
Minister Bagnold frowned slightly, "I do believe you made a similar comment to me once before, Mr. Black, when you were still an Auror."
"It is entirely possible, Madam Minister," Sirius bowed slightly. "I have often commented on dear Bellatrix's demonic nature, even as a child."

Post these as many times as you want, because I really don't think I'm ever going to get tired of looking at them. Especially the Quidditch one, which I just ADORE.

Aaww Colin, you followed me home to my own lj? That's so nice of you. Now stay here forever and ever

Thank you, Sam, for saying that. I'm glad they hold up to multiple viewings. ♥

I did see the cutesy drawing of the edge of sanity, but I wasn't sure what more you illustrated. Just very awesome: from stillness to action, so much emotion captured in the eyes, slumped shoulders and such... :)

Thank you so much honey. :D It means a lot to hear this from you.

And you brought Arthur! I must admit that when he walks around like that, I care very little for the plot. lol ;)

I really loved the blue/black/grey one. It reminded me some of Kasiopea's ones. :D

Hehehe and Arthur, is it bad that everytime I do see Arthur I think... yes that is exactly how a bratty Fëanorian prince would act and behave?

OMG! Being likened to Kasiopea is the best compliment ever. I love her work too much to express. ♥

This is a completely normal thought to have! Imagine if they made a series about life in the fëanorian household in the same vein as they are doing Merlin? It would be awesome!!

As we're all getting our Merlin icons out in anticpation of tonight... ;)

I'm still narrowly giving my overall favourite vote to the sunlit hair and grey eyes one. Meltworthy. But the range of drawings is so impressive.:D

Have always wanted to ask you where you keep the originals of all your pictures? Do you have a gigantic sketch pad or something?!

LOL! I love yours. If Merlin doesn't happen tonight, I won't answer for the consequences. Writing your PM will be the least of it, I fear. ;)

Thank you for giving these another look. There is something appealing about those eyes, isn't there? I used this opportunity to try out a lot of different techniques, and it's really fun to see how they lend very distinct qualities to each painting/drawing.

Actually they are all standing helter skelter on a small easel in the living room... Not the best conservation option I fear. ;) I'm planning to look into having a few framed and put on the wall. I'm only debating how much more of a geek I'll look to everyone if I have the quidditch one hanging above the sofa...

Fear not, I have threatened the BBC with the Wrath of Gilpin, if I don't get Arthur what I want on my screen this weekend. I think they're currently fleeing for their lives, especially now you've mentioned PMs which could start WHAT ARE THEY DOING TO US?!!!

the Wrath of Gilpin

Which is the number one item on the list of force majeures which television directors fear all over the world. I'm glad you are on my side! ;)

everyone will ask about them and want to see what else you've done!:D

That would certainly be a very welcome consequence. ;)

Did you see the snippet from the new Thief book over at [livejournal.com profile] sounis yesterday? [livejournal.com profile] shimotsuki and I squeed on her lj about it. :D

I did see the snippet - at about one o'clock in the morning. My parents came round for a pre-birthday games evening and, bleary-eyed and bleary-brained after being thrashed at cards, I debated for five minutes if I should click or not, in case it gave too much away. LOL!

But that's one exciting snippet. I'm imagining your art already, with men and peashooters!

LOL! I'm glad you clicked - it was just a nice appetizer after all! But, as someone said in the comment, it would have been nice if it was about 400 pages longer. ;)

Actually, I have been sketching Teleus and Costis as they sit together after Gen has wiped the floor with them at the end of KoA. Only, I'm once more deploring MWT lack of physical descriptions for her characters. Is it my imagination (and it may very well be) or does Costis have curly hair? I really want him to....

From: [identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com
She really does need to beef up her descriptions a bit more, though I often said the same about JKR and Remus! Um, I can't honestly remember Costis' hair, but Curly Costis sounds as if it's meant to be, and after all the running of disbelieving hands through it that he must have done in KoA, it's probably in corkscrews by now. ;)

Curly Costis

You know, this alliteration might be the only reason I think he has curly hair? That and the fact that it would be cute beyond believe. Something a bit like this only not as femininely pretty as Orlando. ;)

it's probably in corkscrews by now. ;)

Aaww Costis.. And Teleus has a permanent worryline between his eyebrows because of having to deal with Gen and Attolia all the time. Poor guards. They need a vacation.

ETA: html ooops.

Oh, that's great-looking hair - and obviously I'm an expert, lol. But no, definitely not with a pretty boy like Orlando. Wonder what happened to him, he used to be in everything at one time...

I should think Teleus is rapidly developing grey hairs to go with the worryline. The stresses of his job can only be imagined!

On my flist, you are the hair expert! :D So I'm glad to have your ok for it. I really started liking Costis on my second read of KoA. With the first one I was just annoyed at the lack of Gen. Costis needs to be a bit more manly and buff than Orlando.

Poor Orlando - maybe they found out he couldn't hardly act? Just pose (and I will agree that he was very good at that!)...

The honour of being Captain of the Queen's Guard is a dubious one. ;)

Not long till Merlin now!!

JUMPS UP AND DOWN LIKE A MAD PERSON

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAPPY BIRTHDAY

H and I were discussing how neglectful we've recently been noting birthdays (I do have a little something in the works for you), but I never, ever want to let yours pass without a word. A word of gratitude for your support of my writing, thanks for you continuing to find time to share yours with us. And tell you I sincerely consider you a friend. You offer me so much, always, as well as for so many, and we can all be grateful for you in our lj community. Thank you. ♥

I've said about all I can about these. But I'll go on the record here to say you are enormously talented. Honestly, fandom's standards can be ridiculously demanding and every piece here represents single pieces that are considered top of the line. Your productivity and level of excellence is rare.

Keep doing it like only you can do it. xx
