Another fest is over and the reveals have been made, so now it is time for another art repost, if nothing else then for archiving purposes! This was made for [livejournal.com profile] brighty18 for the Clandestine Nondenominational Holiday Friend Fest over at [livejournal.com profile] brightyfics. ♥

Title: An old friend (ART)
Rating and Warnings: G
Characters: Sirius Black and Delirium
Summary: While on a mission for Dream of the Endless, Sirius meets an old acquintance. "Delirium, Sirius recognizes, another familiar face from Azkaban."
Disclaimer: Harry Potter and all characters are the sole property of JK Rowling and her various publishing entities. Nothing belongs to me. The same goes for the Endless, only they belong to themselves and Neil Gaiman.
Artist's Notes: This is based on a scene from [livejournal.com profile] brighty18's wonderful fic: An Endless Bargain. ♥ And thank you to [livejournal.com profile] train_lindz for invaluable input as to Sirius' attire. ;)

Despite Sirius' sinister memory, I really love the colourful aspect of it. Lovely!

Thank you! Delirium is probably quite colourful when you give yourself over to her - I always loved that visual interpretation of her in The Sandman comics, and I'm glad I have captured it here as well.

I think those pyjamas look stunning :)

Isn't she just? I love her, which might be unhealthy... ;)

Thank you! Yes, the stripes were just the thing.

Loved the contrast between the rainbow colors and the white and blueish ones. Loved the expressions on the faces, too.

Very well done!

Thank you! I'm glad you noticed the contrast - I had a lot of fun playing with it between the two figures. :D

This is lovely! Now I'm tempted to go and read the fic.

Lindz advised you well- the stripey pjs are nice. ♥

Thank you! Yes, Lindz' expertise certainly came through. ♥

It's a great fic - very insightful crossover between HP and The Sandman.

Ooh, thanks for that. I assumed "poetic anthropomorphism of the state of deleriousness" not "Sandman" (trufax- only read a few graphic novels). *lol*

My favorite thing about this pic is the rainbow trail she's standing on---awesome! What tool/technique did you use?
Great use of echoing her colors in the birds; creates a perfect balance.

...and thanks for the glimpse of Sirius' hip bone... ;)

Oh yes the rainbow trail was a lot of fun. First I just put on a relatively light layer of the different colours, and then let it dry. And then I went in with a stronger mix of each colour and painted the flower petals in small flicks.

Oh I'm glad you noted that her colours are also the colours of the birds. They all come from her after all. :D Thank you!!

And you are very welcome for the hip bone. I certainly didn't mind the way his pj's rode up his stomach...

Thank you! :D I loved coming up with Delirium's pose and her vibrant colours. It was such a fun piece to do.

Oh, WOW. This is really, really incredible. I love how you've kind of elongated the bodies in this style. It works. I'm not sure if it's a new body type you're exploring in general for graphic novels, or if it's a reflection of the delirium of Sirius' experiences in Akaban kind of stretching things out. Whatever, it WORKS. It's pleasing to my eye. Delirium is GORGEOUS, the colors are fantastic against the grey and white of his prison uniform, and I adore how his feet are buried in the flowers at her feet. It's a moment of confusion and innocence all at once. Sirius' posture looks very natural, very realistic (as does Delirium's), and the connection between the two is palpable. And once again you've done something wonderful with the birds turning into flowers (as Dream's blood did the same in that awesome piece you did for me, which I have finally hung on the wall!!).

This is a high-quality piece that I could see in a graphic novel right now. It is awesome. You continue to impress me. I think because it's been so long since I've been on LJ I can really see the progression of your art. This piece is FABULOUS, I am not kidding.

:D

Thank you so so much! It's really interesting (and very reassuring!) to hear that there is progress in my art. I was actually thinking of doing one of those progress memes, where I place samples of what I did over time next to each other, so we can all see how it has evolved. :)

As usual you pick up on so many things I wanted to show with this image! The exagerated anatomy, the birds turning into flowers, the contrast between her colourfulness and his bleakness... Getting your comments is always a treat! (And I thought you might like the combination of Sirius and Delirium. ;))

Let's get Mr Neil to write me a graphic novel to illustrate! Shouldn't be hard, it's not like he has plenty of stuff to do already... LOL
