Gift for Dawn

My very good friend dawn_felagund was having a bit of a rough time this week, so I thought I would cheer her up by painting one of her favourite elves. She has agreed to share him with you all, so with no further ado:



Maedhros in watercolor. (an excellent opportunity to try out a most amazing orange color, I haven't used before!) You can click for full size, but beware that the file is pretty big!

I'm pretty sure that this Maedhros is now the Maedhros in the Republic of Tirion series. (Along with strappy!tee!Mablung! :D)

Stunning! Did you use clingfilm for the background texture? Whatever you did, I love the effect. And such a handsome Maedhros. (Well, of course he is!) Love the cheekbones and the chiselled nose, and that hair! I bet you made Dawn's week.

I did use clingfilm. It makes such beatiful patterns that I was almost sorry to start painting on top of it. But it seems to have integrated nicely into the portrait. :D
