I have arrived safely here in Greenland, and am enjoying it very much! The weather has been extremely good, except for one day, and I was too busy being enthousiastic about how the ravens were gliding on the storm to be upset about it. :)

Anyway, I thought I would upload some pictures for you, since I'm transferring from my camera.

Here is a photo from the airplane as we were crossing the ice cape covering the entire inland. Impressive to look at ice for more than an hour from the air, doing more than 900 km/hour.

From the day with the bad weather... Still nice, eh?

This is the mountain that dominates the island - it is called Uummannaq meaning mountain shaped like a heart.

This is Uummannaq city, in all 1500 people live here.

The view from the window towards Storøen (the big island). The storm from the second day blew a lot of icebergs towards us. :D

This is from today when I went walking on the island. The little house is where Santa Claus lives in the summer. (And I have even seen this on tv, so it is irrefutable! ;))

Two of the six sleigh dogs my friends have. These are called Kajo [Gayo](yellow or brown in Greenlandish) and Arthur (as in the legend). My friends have spoiled their dogs, so they are a little fat and extremely fond of being petted.

And a beautiful sunset. Btw, we went walking last night and the stars were sooo clear, and the northern lights (aurea borealis) were dancing across the sky..

That's it for now. My friend is trying to arrange for me to go sailing with a local - I hope she succeeds, that could be great.

Wow, what scenery! I've only ever seen Greenland from above, but I've always wanted to go there some day. (Strangely, it's hard to find people who understand that desire...!) And northern lights! Wow. Just wow.

I know what you mean - I think people are afraid of the cold or something. But I really recommend Greenland to all who enjoy nature! It is absolutely WOW! And I was thinking about you, and your painting of the crossing of Helcaraxë when those northern lights were reflecting in the water.. Too bad you need the sun for them to work..

The sunset photo came out really well! colours are so beautiful up here against all the dark stone and white snow and ice. I'll definitely pass your greeting on to santa - I have a list I need to deliver to him anyway. *writes wishes*

Wow, what stunning pictures, what amazing scenery and what lovely dogs. Hope you get to go on that sailing trip, but I'm now understanding why it's so difficult to fit drawing time in when you've got all that to see!

Isn't it all amazing? I'm completely stunned every time I walk out the door. I did go sailing today, and it was quite an experience - it was a small dinghy with a motor, and it was jumping forward rather than smooth sailing. But we got really close to some icebergs, and the small settlement I went to was quite different from Uummannaq.

Drawing time is increasingly getting pushed ahead, but I have made a start, and am confident I'll make it in time. :)

I was so happy to experience some harsh weather, because you really feel that this is a place where all is dictated by nature. (luckily the weather wasn't that bad - so I could still go out)

Wow, such lovely pictures! The sunset is especially scenic, and the dogs are just adorable. :D For some reason, I just love the view of the ice from above in the first one...but then again, I love snow!

The dogs are the cutest! They are whining to be petted and falling over themselves to have your attention.

I love snow too! (which is of course a good thing in this place). And the ice cap is so impressive.
