I became aware that I never posted the two last pieces I did for [livejournal.com profile] metamorfic_moon here on my own journal! So without further ado please find:

Title: Choir
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] hrymfaxe
Rating & Warnings: G and None
Prompt: Choir
Medium: Watercolour
Summary: After beating a retreat into the choir of a church Tonks and Remus disagree on their future strategy...
Artist's Notes: Two challenges here for me: the extreme perspective and creating texture and values with watercolour. This is not what I had decided on doing for this challenge, though it was an initial idea. But I fell ill and was unable to complete the other project. Thank merlin for back-up plans. ;)

Title: Fugitives
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] hrymfaxe
Rating & Warnings: PG13, for post fighting clean-up, nothing graphic.
Prompts:

I awake to see that no-one is free
We're all fugitives
Look at the way we live
Down here, I cannot sleep form fear, no

"Spies" by Coldplay

And "summer ball"

Medium: Watercolour and ink
Summary: What should have been a fun day, ends in weariness and doubt.
Artist's Notes: Still playing with watercolours. And backgrounds. Please bear with me.

And I submitted a few of the latest art pieces I've done for this great idea:

It's a fest of sorts, where artist submit art as prompts for writers to write stories to and vice versa. :D So if you have a story or a drawing that you would like to see illustrated or ficcified get ye over there! I already see a few stories that are very inspiring.

Well, I've already spilled the beans--I think your vaulted ceiling is gorgeous here. Do you feel you succeeded with value and texture then? Because it sure looks like it! You gave such a nice sense of space and light.

I had to draw a vaulted ceiling once for class--from example, not imagination--and it felt mucho hard, so I'm all the more impressed.

I'm eyeing up that art/fic challenge. Hmmm, a few too many pots on the burner at the 'mo. Your Lily and Sirius watercolor is tempting though, I must admit. Two of my three favorite characters.

Thank you! And yes, I'm quite happy with the results. Especially the texture. Now, if I could only remember how I did it. ;)

Wow! Your drawing is gorgeous!! I really should do some studies like that - it would make the process of making things up from scratch a lot easier (and more informed ;))

I know what you mean! There are a few fics there that are so so tempting, but we'll see what life looks like come December. Lily and Sirius would love it if you wrote something for them, though! ;)

Aw, thanks. : ) I do alright from physical example, but drawing from imagination is harder for me. And shading gives me the fits!

And fortunately you're around to regal me with watercolors because that's a medium I've always admired from afar. I have fooled around with gouache, but it's not the same. Being opaque, I don't think it's as pretty! ; )

I'll keep Lily and Sirius in mind next time I'm musing. : )

Let me qualify the drawing from imagination thing - I think up the scene I want, the scene that best tell the story I'm trying to get across, and then I find reference photos to help me out. ;) Of course it's hard to get exactly the subjects and angles I want, so I have to fill that out, but it isn't all on my head. :D

Watercolours are gorgeous, and you are right that it is the transparency of them that is the main attraction. I have sometimes seen them mixed with gouache, which can produce awesome results.

Let me qualify...reference photos to help me out.

Oh, I'm becoming more aware that everyone does that. : ) Works to great effect! Imagining the scene seems like the cool part.

Gouache and watercolor, I'd've never thought of that...

I have an artist on my flist who does it a lot. Here is an example. I think I read somewhere that she does it because too many layers of watercolour will create was essentially look like mud. Applying a thin wash of gouache gives you the strong colour you need without picking up the washes underneath. Or something to that effect. ;)
